Beginning in the fall of 2012, ODUSports.com and Monarch Media will present a weekly Monarch Spotlight that gives fans a chance to learn more about their favorite student-athletes at Old Dominion.
This week features women's basketball redshirt senior forward/center Mairi Buchan. She recently passed 700 career points and is closing in on 400 career rebounds while earning back-to-back CoSIDA All-Academic First Team All-Region honors in both 2011-2012 and 2012-2013.
Buchan set a career-high with 23 points against Dartmouth on Dec. 2 this season and is in her third term as the vice president of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC). A two-time All-Academic First Team CAA member, Buchan is a pre-med (biology) major planning to attend medical school next school year.
