RICHMOND, Va. (Oct. 25) -- According to a voting pool comprised of coaches, media, and sports information directors in attendance at the Colonial Athletic Association basketball Media Day, the Old Dominion Lady Monarchs are the preseason #1 team while the Monarchs are #4. The conference's annual media day was conducted Wednesday at the ALLTEL Pavilion at the Stewart C. Siegel Center on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University.

In addition to the team picks, a preseason All-CAA team was selected for both the men and the women. On the women's side, two-time CAA Player of the Year Lucienne Berthieu (Rennes, France) was chosen as the preseason Player of the Year while Hamchetou Maiga (Bamako, Mali) earned a spot on the preseason team. For the men, Andre McCullum (Whitesville, NC) earned nine points, just missing a spot in the top five.
