NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University women's basketball team hosts Elizabeth City State on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Ted Constant Convocation Center as fan will get their first chance to take a look at the Lady Monarchs for the upcoming 2012-13 season.

ODU returns seven letterwinners and three starters from last year in reigning CAA Rookie of the Year Ashley Betz-White (8.1 ppg, 3.5 rpg) along with seniors Jackie Cook (9.9 ppg, 4.5 rpg) and Mairi Buchan (7.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg).

Tiffany Minor, Myeisha Hall, Shakeva Richards and Becca Allison all return for Old Dominion as well as Queen Tiye Jackson.

The Lady Monarchs have added six newcomers for the 2012-13 in transfers Stephanie Gardner, Shae Kelley and Michelle Brandao to compliment three freshmen in Brittany Martin, LaQuanda Younger and Galaisha Goodhope. Younger is the reigning two-time Peninsula High School Player of the Year while Goodhope is the Virginian-Pilot Player of the Year as head coach Karen Barefoot and the coaching staff signed on local standout talent.

Elizabeth City State is a member of the CIAA in Division II and was picked to finish four in the CIAA North this season after going 13-14 overall last season. The Lady Vikings are led by senior forward Stephanie Harper who led ECSU in scoring at 15.4 points per game and 11.6 rebounds a contest in 2011-12. 

The Lady Monarchs open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. at Virginia Tech.
