Lucienne Berthieu and Alli Spence added 11 points each for Old Dominion (6-1), and Natalie Diaz had eight steals, seven points, six rebounds and six assists. Atkinson led Denver (3-3) with 12 points and Melissa Garcia had nine on three 3-pointers. The Lady Monarchs led 35-28 at halftime, then took command by limiting Denver to six field goals in the second half, three in the final 16:03.
Denver led 19-18 after a 3-pointer by Ashley Atkinson with 7:43 to play in the first half, but the Lady Monarchs forced five turnovers in the Pioneers' next six
possessions, scored 12 straight points and never trailed again.
