Box Score

Norfolk, VA -- Sophomore Angie Loy's (Loysville, PA) goal 34 seconds into overtime lifted the Old Dominion field hockey team (2-2, 0-0 CAA) to a 1-0 win over Penn State (0-2, 0-0 BIG TEN) this afternoon on Foreman Field.

The Lady Monarchs gained control of the ball and pushed upfield right away in the overtime session. Just seconds past regulation, junior midfielder Tiffany Snow (Escondido, CA) made a shot that was saved by the Lady Lion keeper and rebounded right to Loy. Loy, who recorded her first goal of the year, sent the ball into the net at 14:26.

The Lady Monarchs outshot the Lady Lions 14-4 and also held the advantage in penalty corners 11-1. Old Dominion goalkeeper Marybeth Freeman (Holland, PA) recorded three saves on the day, while Lady Lion netminder Annie Zinakavich tallied nine stops.

The Lady Monarch field hockey team, winners of two straight, will return to action next weekend when they host Wake Forest on Saturday, September 8th and Boston University on Sunday, September 9th.
