NORFOLK, VA -- The third ranked Lady Monarch field hockey team (3-2, 0-0 CAA) extended its winning streak to three straight with a 3-2 victory over fifth ranked Wake Forest (2-2, 0-0 ACC) at Foreman Field this afternoon.

Although the Demon Deacons took a 1-0 lead following a penalty corner goal by Jemima Cameron, with the assists from Heather Aughinbaugh and Maria Whitehead, Old Dominion followed with two unanswered goals to take the lead for good. Just over ten minutes after the Wake Forest goal, sophomore midfielder Melissa Leonetti (Erdenheim, PA) tied the game at 1-1, with the assist credited to rookie Lotte Bant (Amsterdam, Holland). The teams entered the intermission still tied a one apiece.

In the second half of play, senior Adrienne Yoder (Coopersburg, PA) converted a penalty stroke past the Demon Deacon netminder at 15:48 to give the Lady Monarchs the lead for good. Senior midfielder Julie Miracle (Audubon, PA) followed up just over a minute later with a rebound off the Wake Forest keeper to send in the game-winner. The Demon Deacons pulled within one, 3-2, with 2:15 remaining in the game on an unassisted tally by Kelly Doton.

Junior Marianne Freeman (Holland, PA) registered six saves in net for the Lady Monarchs, while Wake Forest goalie Katie Ridd stopped eight shots on goal. The Demon Deacons outshot ODU 19-13 and held the edge in penalty corners 9-4.
