Box Score

RICHMOND, VA -- Senior Adrienne Yoder (Coopersburg, PA) lifted the #2 Old Dominion Field Hockey team (5-2, 1-0 CAA) to victory, as she scored the game's only goal midway through the first half, for a 1-0 victory over Virginia Commonwealth (1-6, 0-1 CAA) in Colonial Athletic Association action.

Yoder, the CAA Player of the Week for the week ending September 9th, knocked in a rebound off a shot from junior Tiffany Snow (Escondido, CA) with 18:56 remaining before halftime for the game-winning shot. The Lady Monarch defense came up big in the shutout victory, allowing the Rams to fire off just three shots on net all day.

VCU's Abby Stiles made a season-high 12 saves in net for the Rams, while Old Dominion netminder Marybeth Freeman (Holland, PA) stopped two shots off penalty corners to record her second shutout of the season.

The Lady Monarchs outshot VCU 18-2 in the opening half and 24-3 overall and also held the advantage in penalty corners 18-2.

The Old Dominion Field Hockey team returns to action tomorrow when they face 12th ranked Virginia in Charlottesville at 1:00 p.m.
