Box Score

PRINCETON, NJ -- Princeton's Rachel Becker scored at 30:32 of the second half to lead the Princeton field hockey team (6-1, 2-0 Ivy) to a 2-1 win over No. 3 Old Dominion (7-3, 1-0 CAA). The loss snapped the Lady Monarchs seven game win-streak, which began back on the first of September.

The Tigers' Ashley Sennett opened scoring in the game at 9:03 remaining in the first half when she registered her fourth goal of the season. Princeton junior Ilvy Friebe, the nation's leading scorer, picked up the assist on the goal as the Tigers took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Senior Julie Miracle (Audubon, PA) tied the game at 1-1 with 31:10 remaining off an assist from junior Tiffany Snow (Escondido, CA), but the Tigers responded less than a minute later. Sophomore Claire Miller collected the ball just inside the right side of the circle and sent it across to Becker, who drilled what proved to be the game-winning goal into the back of the cage at 30:23.

Princeton goalkeeper Kelly Baril finished the game with three saves, while Old Dominion netminder Marybeth Freeman (Holland, PA) stopped six shots in goal for the Lady Monarchs.

The Lady Monarchs return to action in Storrs, CT next weekend as they take on the UConn Huskies on Saturday, October 6th and New Hampshire on Sunday, October 7th.
