NORFOLK, VA -- Junior Tiffany Snow's (Escondido, CA) four goals helped Old Dominion (14-4, 3-0 CAA) avenge it's loss to the Tar Heels earlier this month, as the nation's second ranked field hockey team took a 6-4 victory over #4 North Carolina on Foreman Field.

Snow scored her first goal at the 25:50 mark, on one of her three goals off the penalty corner, but North Carolina quickly tied the game seven minutes later. On a scramble in front of the Lady Monarch net, the Tar Heels' Amber Chambers found a clearing and scored to tie the game at 1-1. Snow used another penalty corner to give Old Dominion the lead, which they would fail to relinquish, and put the Lady Monarchs up 2-1. Senior Julie Miracle (Audubon, PA) added back-to-back Old Dominion goals to put the Lady Monarchs up 4-2 at the half. Carrie Lingo added the Tar Heels' second goal of the period off a penalty corner as time expired in the first half of play.

The Lady Monarchs went up 6-2 in the opening minutes of the second half. Snow added in yet another penalty corner goal at 30:03 for the hat trick and then scored again at the 22:28 mark. The Tar Heels' however did not go down quietly as North Carolina pulled within two late in the second half. Lingo scored her second goal of the day on a Tar Heel penalty corner and Abby Martin converted a stroke with 11:05 to play to close in on the Old Dominion lead. The Lady Monarch defense held on to preserve the win.

Old Dominion outshot the Tar Heels 16-10 and held the advantage in penalty corners 10-8. Lady Monarch keeper Marybeth Freeman (Holland, PA) stopped three Carolina shots on net, while her counterpart Amy Tran stopped six Old Dominion shots.

The Lady Monarchs will close out the regular season tomorrow as they host Northeastern, currently ranked 19th and the top team in the America East Conference.
