Former Lady Monarch Miller On US National Team
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jan. 9) -- The United States Field Hockey Association (USFHA) named its 2001 Women's National Team at the beginning of this week. Former Old Dominion All-American Kim Miller (Virginia Beach, Va.) is a member of that 18-woman team seeking to qualify for the 2002 World Cup.
Miller ('00), a three-time All-CAA selection and NFHCA All-South Region choice, has been involved in try-outs with the US National Team for some time. Back in 1999, she qualified for the team, but turned down the invitation as she wanted to finish out her collegiate career. She has previously been a member of the Under-23 and Under-21 national teams. During her collegiate career with the Lady Monarchs, Miller collected a national championship in 1998. She amassed 82 goals and 59 assists for 200 career points. Former Lady Monarch Jill Reeve ('93) is a veteran member of the team. On April 15, the US team will begin a residency program in Virginia Beach, where the team will train over the next four years. The team will travel to Jamaica in March for the America's Cup and will then travel to the World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Abbeville, France on September 18-20. The team will conclude its international schedule with the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Champions Challenge in New Delhi in December.
