MUNCIE, IND-- Former ODU Lady Monarch Field Hockey player, Beth Maddox ('05), an assistant field hockey coach at Colgate for the past three seasons, has been named the head field hockey coach at Ball Sate University.

"We are extremely excited for Beth to become the field hockey coach at Ball State," said Athletics Director Tom Collins. "She was an outstanding player and has experience in all areas necessary to become a head coach. We are looking forward to Beth developing our young players and getting our program back to th top of the Mid-American Conference."

Maddox completed her third season at Colgate last fall, where she assisted Cathy Foto. In addition, Madox participated as a coach at the 2008 U.S. Field Hockey Association Futures Program.

Maddox, who also coached at individual and team camps at ODU was involved as a coach in the Virginia Beach Hockey League. Prior to her stint at Colgate, Maddox coached at Salem High School junior varsity field hockey team.

The 2005 graduate of Old Dominion, Maddox was a our-year letter winner for the field hockey team. As a midfielder, she played in 77 games, starting 66 and accumulated seven goals and two assists in her career.

During Maddox's time at ODU, the field hockey team made consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, and won the NCAA National title in the fall of 2000. The Lady Monarchs were also four-time CAA Champions during her time at ODU.

A native of Virginia Beach, Va., maddox graduated from ODU with a degree in communications. SHe graduate from Salem High School in 2000 aand was a National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-American.
