June 27, 2010
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Four former members of the Old Dominion field hockey program have been selected to the U.S. National & Developmental teams as Head USA Field Hockey Coach Lee Bodimeade announced both squads Saturday evening at the Women's National Championship Awards Banquet in Virginia Beach. A total of 24 field hockey standouts were named to the Women's National Team, while 10 players were chosen for the Developmental Squad. The teams will begin training on July 6th in preparation for international road matches against Spain and England. Tiffany (Snow) Huisman and Caroline Nichols were selected once again to be members of the U.S. National Team, while Kelly Driscoll and Katelyn Smither will train with the Women's Developmental Team. "We had an outstanding pool of talented players to choose from and we had some tough decisions to make," said Bodimeade. "We made these selections with the 2012 Olympics in mind. We kept the core group from our Beijing squad, but we added some young players so that we can be where we need to be in 2012." Current ODU assistant coach Amy Tran was also selected as a member of the Women's National Team. WOMEN'S NATIONAL SQUAD 2010/11 -ODU-
