Sept. 10, 2001

NORFOLK, VA - Senior Lady Monarch field hockey team member, Adrienne Yoder (Coopersburg, PA), was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week, it was announced today by the conference. The award marks the second time Old Dominion has been awarded the honor.

Yoder was a key to three Lady Monarch victories this past week, including two over ranked foes. She helped the squad record its first shutout of season with 1-0 overtime win over #9 Penn State and aided the in allowing just one shot on net in the 4-1 win over Boston University. Against #5 Wake Forest, Yoder converted a penalty stroke, which gave Old Dominion a lead over the Demon Deacons that they would never relinquish. The goal was Yoder's first of the 2001 season and the 16th of her career.

The Old Dominion field hockey team will begin an eight-game road trip starting this weekend. The Lady Monarchs will travel to North Carolina on Saturday, September 15th in a rematch of last year's NCAA Field Hockey Championship Game in which Old Dominion captured the title with a 3-2 win. Game time is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. in Chapel Hill, NC. On Sunday, September 16th, the Lady Monarchs will face the Duke Blue Devils at 1:00 p.m.
