Top-Ranked Monarchs Come-From-Behind To Top Connecticut, 6-4
NORFOLK, Va. (Nov. 12) - The top-ranked Old Dominion field hockey team posted a 6-4 come-from-behind victory over No. 10 Connecticut Sunday (Nov. 12) in the NCAA Field Hockey Second Round at Foreman Field on the campus of the Old Dominion University. With the win, Old Dominion improves to 23-1 overall while the Huskies fall to 17-7. The Lady Monarchs will make their 13th Final Four appearance in the history of the school. Honda Award hopeful Marina DiGiacomo (Mendoza, Argentina) took control of the game after finding her team down 3-0. DiGiacomo netted three goals, two assists, and a defensive save for the win. With the eight points, she becomes the all-time point leader (404) in the history of field hockey, surpassing Chris Dufner (398) of the AIAW. The Lady Monarchs will take on Wake Forest at 4 pm Friday, November 17 in the first national semifinal. North Carolina and Maryland will face off at 6:30 pm.
