NORFOLK, VA -- Old Dominion field hockey team members Tiffany Snow (Escondido, CA) and Adrienne Yoder (Coopersburg, PA) were named First Team Division I All-Americans it was announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). Teammate Tara Herrmann (Perkasie, PA) was named Third Team All-America.

Snow, a junior midfielder, was an energetic midfielder recording a team leading 41 points. She tied for the top goal scorer (16) and assisted on nine goals to rank second on the squad. Snow adds to her list of awards picked up this season including All-South Regional All-American, First Team All-CAA, and CAA All-Tournament Team. Snow was key in the Lady Monarch transition in feeding the ball upfield, setting up goal scoring opportunities, and was also relied upon to clear out the midfield on the defensive end. She was integral part of not only setting up the penalty corner, but was a key member of the penalty corner unit which the Lady Monarchs used nearly 300 times this season.

Yoder, a senior back, adds to an already impressive list of honors and awards earned throughout the 2001 season. She picks up her second All-America honor, after being named to the First Team last year. Named an All-South Regional All-American, CAA Player of the Year, CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-CAA, CAA All-Tournament, and CAA Tournament MVP, Yoder closed the season with 36 points, ranking second on the squad. She logged 12 goals (fourth on the team) and a team-leading 12 assists. Against American, Yoder recorded a game-high four goals, tying the record for the largest goal output by a CAA player in a single game this season.. Additionally, Yoder assisted on three goals for 11 points for a single game points record in the CAA this season. Yoder was named a CAA Player of the Week following three Lady Monarch victories, including two over ranked foes. She helped the squad record its first shutout of season with 1-0 overtime win over #9 Penn State and aided the in allowing just one shot on net in the 4-1 win over Boston University. Against #5 Wake Forest, Yoder converted a penalty stroke, which gave Old Dominion a lead over the Demon Deacons that they would never relinquish.

Herrmann, a junior midfielder, became the third Lady Monarch from this year's squad to be named an All-American. Named First Team All-CAA, CAA Tournament Team member, and an All-South Regional All-American, Herrmann was one of the most productive members of the offense this season for Old Dominion. She scored 16 goals to tie for the top Lady Monarch goal scorer in 2001. She also chipped in five assists for 37 points, ranking her second on the squad. Herrmann logged three assists in the Lady Monarchs' 9-0 route of Temple in late September for a single-game high for ODU. Herrmann also managed three goals against national powerhouse North Carolina.

The Lady Monarch field hockey team finished the 2001 season with an 18-5 overall and 3-0 CAA mark. Old Dominion closed out the season ranked second in the STX/NFHCA poll and advanced to their 20th NCAA Tournament appearance, reaching the second round. During the season, the team recorded 10 shutouts, defeated 10 ranked opponents, and captured their sixth consecutive CAA Title.
