CULLOWHEE, NC-- Emma Gilmore and ODU freshman Samantha Morrell finished 13th with 73's after at the 11th annual Women's Great Smokies Golf Tournament at the Waynesville Inn Golf Resort. The second and third rounds were rained out.

As a team, the Lady Monarchs are sixth with a 302. Elon and Western Carolina lead the tournament at 286.

Gilmore shot 37 on the front and 36 on the back while Morrell shot 36 on the front and 37 on the back. Both were only four stroke back of the tournament leaders. Due to the shortened tournament, there was a four-way tie for the Individual Champion. Western Carolina's Malin Jansson and Tiffany Schisler, playing as an individual, tied with Elon's Tara McFadden and William & Mary's Carolina Sweet, each shooting a 69, for the top honors.

Sophomore Kristen Hagan shot a 76 and is tied for 39th.

Morrell was sixth in the tournament in pars with 13, while the Lady Monarchs as a team were sixth in birdies (11), seventh in par 5 scoring (4.96) and seventh in par 3 scoring (3.28). ODU plays in the Elon Seatrail tournament beginning on Sept.25th.
