Lady Monarchs Third At Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA-- ODU junior Elizabeth Haycock (Birmingham, England) fired a final round 70 to finish tied for fourth place with a 217 score at the 37th annual Nittany Lion Women's Golf Invitational. As a team, the Lady Monarchs finished third with an 892 score for the 54-hole event. The tournament was played on Penn State's University's Blue course. The two-time all-Conference golfer, Haycock (74-73-70=217) who was in seventh Saturday had five birdies on the day as she shot 34 on the back-nine to finish -2 for the day and nine strokes behind the tournament medalist Ellen Ceresko (69-69-70=208) of Penn State. Ceresko won by seven strokes. ODU Junior Gemma Fuster (Barcelona, Spain) shot 75 in the final round to finish seventh at (72-71-75) 218. Kimberley Bradbury tied for 33rd at 229, Samantha Morrell tied for 56th at 235. Host Penn State captured the crown with a 54-hole score of 862, followed by Harvard at 886, then ODU at 892. Harvard's 284 was the best score in the final round, while Penn State shot 287 and ODU 297. The Lady Monarchs return to action on Oct. 8 and 9 in Greenville, NC when they compete in the ECU Lady Pirate Intercollegiate.
