DAYTONA BEACH, FL.--ODU senior Samantha Morrell (North Kingstown, RI.) fired 75 and is only three strokes off the lead after one round at the LPGA Xavier Invitational at the LPGA International Course. As a team, ODU is tied with Mercer for fourth, just two strokes back of the leader.

Florida Gulf Coast leads the tournament with a 310, followed by host Xavier at 311, ODU and Mercer at 312.

Morrell shot 37 on the front and 38 on the back for a 75, while junior Elizbeth Haycock(Birmingham, England) shot 77 and is in 11th place, followed by junior Gemma Fuster (Barcelona, Spain) at 19th after shooting a 79.

Shane Crutchfield of Xavier leads the individuals after shooting a 72, followed by Lacey Fears of Mercer with a 73.
