Lady Monarchs Take Second At Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The ODU Lady Monarch golfers placed three in the top seven to finish second at the Fighting Camel Fall Classic women's golf tournament at Keith Hills Country Club. The host team Campbell University won the event. ODU's Samantha Morrell (North Kingstown, RI.) and Kimberley Bradbury (Derbyshire, England) tied for fifth at 225, while junior Elizabeth Haycock (Birmingham, England) finished seventh at 226 and Gemma Fuster (Barcelona, Spain) was 13th at 230. After holding a two-stroke lead through 36 holes, Campbell fired a 306 on Tuesday to claim the team title (294-298-306--898) by 8 shots over the Lady Monarchs (297-297-312--906). Longwood (309-296-313--918) was third and Cal State Fullerton fourth (312-309-304--925) in the 12-school event. Individual medalist honors went to Campbell's Kaylin Yost the Big South Player of the Year who finished the 54-hole tournament at one-over-par 217 (73-69-75) to gain medalist honors by three strokes over Se Ri Lee of Cal State Fullerton. Yost had 9 birdies and 36 pars and led the field with a one-over scoring average on the par 4 holes. Morrell and Haycock led the tournament in par five scoring at 4.67 (-4), while Gemma Fuster tied for the lead in birdies with nine, with Bradbury and Morrell Tying for fourth with eight birdies. This was the Lady Monarchs final Fall match of the season. ODU has taken second at Towson, third at Penn State and ECU and now second at Campbell.
