NORFOLK, VA-- ODU women's golf coach Carol Robertson will be competing in the 87th VSGA Women's Amateur beginning today at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club's Gold Course in Williamsburg, VA. Lady Monarch rising senior Samantha Morrell will be competing in the 56th annual NEWGA Championship in Vassalboro, Maine at the Natanis Golf Club, June 9-11.

Robertson, the 2006 winner of the VSGA tournament is one of four returning semifinalists from 2011. Following two days of stroke-play qualifying, first and second rounds of match play will be held Wednesday for the low 32 qualifiesrs. Quarterfinal and semifinal rounds are Thursday and 18-hole final is Friday.

Morrell, a two-time All-CAA selection won this event in 2010. This past season, Morrell was named team MVP and first team All-CAA. She had five top 10 finishes, including a first at East Carolina and seventh at the CAA Championships.
