Heather Walden is returning for her fourth season as assistant coach to the Lady Monarchs. She is no stranger to Foreman Field or to Old Dominion women's lacrosse, as a successful goaltender on the 1995 Colonial Athletic Association championship team. She is either fully or partly responsible for recruitment of student-athletes, team travel, practice planning, and supervision of academic affairs.
During her playing career from 1992-95, Walden earned four varsity letters en route to the 1995 CAA championship. During that season, she was named an All-CAA second team selection. Walden played in 43 career games for Old Dominion, collecting 386 saves for a .599 save percentage. She is fifth on Old Dominion's all-time goaltending leader board.
Over her playing career, Walden earned spots on the Virginia Women's Lacrosse Association's (VWLA) Virginia II Regional Select Team and the United States Women's Lacrosse Association's (USWLA) South III National Team.
Prior to her current post, Walden served as assistant coach at nationally-ranked William & Mary where her main duties were recruitment of student-athletes, team travel coordination, practice planning, and supervision of academic affairs.
Walden has also served as a camp coach and clinician at several lacrosse camps around the region. She also served as the director of the Collegiate Lacrosse Camp in Richmond last season and was a high school lacrosse coach in Fairfax, Virginia.
