RICHMOND, VA - Second seeded Old Dominion University got five goals each from senior attacker Jen Heister (Fayetteville, NY) and junior midfielder Danielle Hensil (Havertown, PA)to put away third seed James Madison University 17-13 in the semifinals of the 2002 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Lacrosse Championship at the Pioneer Spring Sports Festival. The Lady Monarchs advance to face top-seeded Loyola College, an 11-5 winner over fifth seed George Mason in the first semifinal, Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Cary Street Field.

First team All-CAA sophomore midfielder Suzanne Wosczyna (Phoniexville, PA) also had a big game for ODU (13-4 overall, 6-2 CAA), tallying four goals and three assists for seven total points.

It looked like the Lady Monarchs were going to have their way with the Dukes early, as ODU jumped out to leads of 3-0, 6-1 and 8-2. Hensil and Heister combine for five goals in the early going to boost the Lady Monarchs' quick start. But after a Wosczyna score made it 9-3, James Madison reeled off three straight goals, including two by sophomore attacker Gail Decker, to cut the margin to 9-6 at halftime.

The Dukes opened the second frame with two more scores to cut the deficit to 9-8. However, JMU (8-9, 5-3) could not quite get all the way back. The Lady Monarchs scored five of the next six goals to keep the Dukes at bay.

Decker, a second team All-CAA selection, finished with five goals and an assist for JMU, and CAA Player of the Year Lisa Staedt added four goals. Senior Kristen Dinisio, a second team All-CAA midfielder, chipped in two goals and a pair of assists.

In net, sophomore Beth O'Leary (Manlius) made six stops, while the Dukes' Amy Altig recorded five saves.
