Wosczyna Tabbed First Team All-State
June 9, 2003 NORFOLK, VA -- Third Team All-American junior Suzanne Wosczyna (Phoenixville, PA) was one of 12 women's lacrosse student-athletes named to the All-State Lacrosse Team in a vote by the Virginia Sports Information Directors. Wosczyna, who was one of 24 athletes named to the United States Women's Developmental lacrosse teams for 2003-04 earlier this month, adds to her already impressive list of honors and awards she has recieved this year. A three-time All-CAA pick and two-time All-American, Wosczyna finished the year ranked first in the nation in points and assists per game. This past season Wosczyna also became ODU's all-time leading scorer in just her third season on the squad, helping lead the Lady Monarch women's lacrosse team to a 12-4 overall mark and the finals of the CAA Tournament for the second straight season. Additionally, she was a Tewaaraton Trophy nominee for the nation's top women's lacrosse player. The junior midfielder accumulated 77 points in 2003 with 45 goals and 32 assists and holds a career mark of 149 points, 91 goals, and 240 assists. The NCAA runners-up, the Virginia Cavaliers placed five student-athletes on the team, including Amy Appelt, Cary Chasney, Lauri Kenis, Tiffany Schummer, and VaSID Player of the Year Lauren Aumiller. George Mason and James Madison both claimed three honorees. The Patriots had Jill Toomey, Paula Priest, and keeper Meg Dentler, while JMU had midfielders Lisa Staedt and Gail Decker as well as Jess Beard. 2003 VaSID University Division Women's Lacrosse Team:
