Caroline Jacobs Named Second Team All-State By VaSID
June 15, 2007 NORFOLK, Va. -- Former Lady Monarch midfielder Caroline Jacobs (Gaithersburg, Md.) was named Second Team All-State, as announced by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) today. In her fourth and final year in the Lady Monarch uniform, Jacobs started all 15 games as Old Dominion collected a 7-8 record and returned to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) tournament for the first time since 2003. Jacobs was one of the key ingredients in the Lady Monarchs achieving the third-best turn around in Division I in 2007 improving from last season's 5-10 mark. A Second Team All-South Region and Second Team All-CAA selection, Jacobs finished the year ranked 16th nationally in caused turnovers and 24th in ground balls per game. Among CAA peers, she ranked fourth in groundballs per game and third in caused turnovers, while leading the Lady Monarchs in total points (44), goals (32), groundballs (42), and caused turnovers (28). Jacobs was also second in assists (12) and third on the team in draw controls (21). During her senior campaign, Jacobs scored in all but two games and was a multiple scorer in eight contests. She registered a career-high eight points and tied a career mark with six goals in a victory over William & Mary and set a new career mark with seven groundballs against #19/18 Richmond. Jacobs also posted a season-high four caused turnovers against the Spiders. Tied for fourth on the ODU all-time points leaders list (163), Jacobs also concluded her career at seventh in goals (108) and second in assists (55). Jacobs was one of 56 active Division I women's student-athletes to score 100 career goals or more, one of 36 active Division I student-athletes to make 50 or more career assists, and one of 40 active Division I women's lacrosse players to tally 150 or more career points.
