FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason scored two second half goals while Ashlee Coutu got Old Dominion on the board but it was not enough as Mason topped ODU 2-1 in Fairfax.

The two squads battled to a scoreless first half and stayed that way until the 68th minute when George Mason's (5-7-1) Tiana Kallenberger fired a shot from 35 yards out into the left corner to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead.

The Patriots added another goal six minutes later when Liz Hodges shot deflected off an ODU defender to make the score 2-0.

With 49 seconds remaining, ODU got on the board when Kelly Farrell sent in a corner kick that Ashlee Coutu knocked past the Mason keeper to tighten up the score at 2-1.

Mason outshot ODU 17-12 with Kallenberger leading the Patriots with five shots while Coutu had five shots for ODU with Taylor Mertz posting four shots.

Laura Bush made eight saves in goal for the Lady Monarchs while Lyndse Hokanson made four saves for Mason.

Old Dominion is back in action on Thursday, Oct. 4 when they take on Georgia State.
