NORFOLK, VA--The Old Dominion University men's and women's soccer teams put together 2,000 care kits to help "Hospitality for the Homeless," which is a cause-based foundation in Norfolk that serves as a national collection and re-distribution agency for travel-size toiletries to those in need.

Both the Monarch and Lady Monarch soccer teams are the test program for Division I schools. They put together the care kits on Tuesday, march 20th in the new Soccer complex.

"It's an interesting concept that has been well received," said Brian Friedman, President of the Hospitality for the Homeless. "Refreshingly, we don't ask for a financial contribution from our institutional partners, nor do we solicit continuously. We only seek toiletries (mini shampoo bottles, mini bars of soap, lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste and disposable razors) that already stocked in-house, and w only re-visit the request once a year."

Other educational partners include: middle schools, high schools and Sunday Schools who provide student volunteer assistance in re-packaging amenities into care kits for our distribution and enable their students to receive community service credit.

Hospitality for the Homeless receives donated amenities from partners nationally, including hotels and resorts, dentists, orthodontists, retailers and manufacturers as well as the public.
