NORFOLK, VA -- The Lady Monarchs were knotted up at zeroes with the Lancers of Longwood University almost ten minutes into the second half when the whistle blew to cancel the remainder of the match due to inclement weather. ODU got three shots, including two on-goal from senior Lisa McKenzie (Inverness, Scotland), as well as one on-goal apiece from senior Katie Watson (Woodbridge, Va.) and newcomer Ashley Kukura (Virginia Beach, Va.).

Before ODU's first match of the year was called due to the weather, junior Lauren Tupman (Virginia Beach, Va.) posted a shutout in the first half including one save. Junior Colby Owen (Virginia Beach, Va.) came on for the second and was also flawless for the Lady Monarchs.

On the other side of the ball, senior Anne Whitmore (Charlottesville, Va.) didn't allow a goal while tallying four saves. Kaylyn Mahon (Spring Grove, Pa.) was the only Lancer to muster a shot on the Lady Monarchs defense in the 54:15 game.

ODU will return to the pitch on Saturday, August 25 as they travel to American University for another exhibition match. They return home for a final exhibition against Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday, August 28.
