Clemson, S.C. (Aug. 27) - The Old Dominion women's soccer team fell to sixth-ranked Clemson, 3-1, on Aug. 27. The loss drops ODU to 1-1on the season while Clemson improves to 2-0.

The Lady Monarchs made things interesting in the first half courtesy of Melanie McGovern (Somerdale, NJ), whose first goal of the season tied the game 1-1. Both teams went into the locker room tied at halftime, but Clemson would reclaim the lead for good at 58:46 in the second half. The Lady Tigers would add on one goal for insurance ten minutes later and hold on for the win. Clemson outshot ODU 28-5 and held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Lady Monarch will try to rebound from the loss when they open at home on September 2, against Monmouth.
