NORFOLK, VA. (Sept. 2) - Junior forward Melanie McGovern (Somerdale, NJ.) scored two goals and Jen Henley (Chalfont, Pa.) added another to lead the Old Dominion University women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Monmouth University on Sept. 2. ODU is now 2-1, Monmouth drops to 1-1.

After an 'own goal' put the Lady Monarchs up 1-0 at the 40:33 mark of the first half, Henley scored seven minutes later, her third of the season. After a one hour delay because of lightning and rain, the Lady Monarchs got two second half goals from McGovern with assists from Henley and Diane Baucom (Va. Beach, Va.).

Old Dominion outshot Monmouth, 17-3 as goalkeepers Tonya Dedmond (North Potamac, MD.) and Alison Kinsler (Va. Beach, Va.) shared the shutout.

The Lady Monarchs return to action on Sept. 6 when they travel to Williamsburg for a CAA match against William & Mary at Busch Field.
