Virginia Tech Nips Lady Monarchs in Soccer, 1-0
BLACKSBURG, VA (Sept. 22, 2000) -- The Old Dominion University women's soccer team
fell to Virginia Tech this afternoon, 1-0. With the loss, the Lady Monarchs fall to
5-4 on the season while Tech improves to 4-7.
Old Dominion held a 25-20 advantage in shots and a 8-4 edge in corner kicks. The Lady Monarchs were also given a penalty kick which they could not convert. Hokie Victoria Sarfo-Kantanka scored the only goal of the day for Virginia Tech. Tech goalkeeper Katie Hancock recorded 14 saves on the day while her ODU counterpart, Tonya Dedmond (North Potomac, MD), collected 10 in the losing effort. The Lady Monarchs will return to action on Sunday, September 24 when they travel to Radford.
