Lady Monarchs Down Mercer, 6-1
NORFOLK, VA (Oct. 22, 2000) -- The Old Dominion women's soccer team defeated
visiting Mercer University this afternoon, 6-1. With the win, Old
Dominion improves to 12-7 on the year and sets a new record for most
victories in a season. The previous mark of 11 victories was set in
1998, the year the Lady Monarchs won the regular season CAA crown.
Junior Jen Henley (Chalfont, PA) led the way for the Lady Monarchs, netting two goals and assisting on another. Altogether, five different players scored for Old Dominion, including seniors Kim Maurer (Marlton, NJ) and Lauren Rafal (Va. Beach, VA). Mercer's lone goal came courtesy of Ann-Marie Lapalme, who scored at 79:26 to help her team avoid the shutout. Old Dominion will wrap up the regular season at home on Sunday, October 29 when they host Richmond at 1 p.m.
