NORFOLK, Va. (Oct. 30) -- Old Dominion University junior goalkeeper Tonya Dedmond (North Potomac, MD) was named the CAA women's soccer player of the week for her outstanding performance against the University of Richmond on Oct. 29. The junior collected eight saves on the day, stonewalling an aggressive Spider offense that outshot Old Dominion 14-9, including 9-2 in the second-half.

On the season, Dedmond has seen action in 13 games, collecting 63 saves along the way. She has a 1.46 goals against average and a save percentage of .780.

Prior to this season, Old Dominion had registered two CAA players of the week -- Pam Dennis (1994) and Jen Henley (1998). This season the Lady Monarchs have won the award three times, with juniors Jen Henley, Melanie McGovern, and Tonya Dedmond all taking the honors.
