As a junior, Shaulis was 11-2 and led the Lady Monarchs to second place in the Virginia State Championships. In addition, the squad qualified for the AIAW Region II tournament for the first time ever. Shaulis once again took second in the State Championships.

In 1981, Shaulis was 16-7 and led ODU to their best dual season ever with a 15-4 record. That season, ODU was 8-0 against Virginia's Division I teams and was awarded the regular season state crown. The Lady Monarchs took second in the state tournament and once again Shaulis advanced to the AIAW Region II Championships.
