Cavaliers Squeeze By Old Dominion

NORFOLK, VA - The Old Dominion women's tennis team fell to rival Virginia 4-3 on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Monarchs fell to 1-2 while UVA eeked out its second consecutive win of the spring season. Old Domninion's top two singles players prevailed over Virginia. Sophomore Nataly Cahanna (Qiriat Bialik, Israel) won a 6-0, 1-6, 6-4 match over Henriette Williams while senior Ana Radeljevic (Zagreb, Croatia) picked up a victory over Jennifer Tuchband with a 7-6 (5), 7-6 match. Senior Mily Kannarkat (Va Beach, VA) fell at third singles (6-1, 6-2), while Cavalier sisters Dora and Marta Bechliwanis defeated junior Julia Sotiriu (Wendelstein, Germany) (2-6, 6-2, 6-2) and senior Patricia Araujo (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) (6-2, 6-3) at fourth and fifth singles respectively. In doubles, Old Dominion was victorious at first singles as Cahana and Radeljevic teamed for a 8-2 win. In second singles action, Kannarkat and Sotiriu fell 8-5 to the Bechliwanis sisters.
