#51 Lady Monarchs Win Over Texas-Arlington, 6-1

NORFOLK, Va. -- The 51st ranked Lady Monarchs improved to 6-2 with a 6-1 victory over the Mavericks from Texas-Arlington today. Old Dominion won all three doubles matches and nearly swept the singles matches as well, dropping only No. 6 singles in a third set tiebreaker. No. 21 Nadine Fahoum continued her stellar play this season, scoring a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Katarina Mlcochava at No. 1 singles, while pairing with Joanna Dobrowolska for the 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles as well. Dobrowolska added a straight set victory of her own at No. 2 singles for the Lady Monarchs. Irina Dementyeva won a No. 3 singles, despite not winning a game in the second set, she bounced back for a 10-8 win in the third set tiebreaker. The Lady Monarch rookies stepped up at No. 4 and 5 singles, as Diana Ivanova and Juliana Pires won in straight sets, respectively. Pires teamed with Marija Citic for the win at No. 2 doubles, while Dementyeva and Ivanova took the final point in a 9-8 (7-5) tiebreak.
