RICHMOND, Va. - Aleksandra Mitrovska won at No. 3 singles for Old Dominion University women's tennis but it was not enough as VCU defeated the Lady Monarchs 6-1 Saturday evening in Richmond.

Mitrovska defeated Josefin Hjertquist 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for her fourth win of the season.

Diana Ivanova and Melissa Esnal Olguin dropped a pair of tough three-set matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Ivanova fell 6-1, 6-7, 6-1 to Alex Barra while Esnal Olguin dropped a tough 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 match to Ana Barra.

The loss gives ODU their first defeat of the season, moving to 3-1 overall while VCU improves to 8-1.

Old Dominion is back in action tomorrow morning when they host James Madison at 11 a.m.
