PRINCETON, NJ -- The Old Dominion women's tennis team fell to 1-4 on the year with a 4-3 loss to the Ivy League's Princeton on Saturday afternoon at Jadwin Gym. The Lady Monarchs won the doubles point and collected wins by fifth ranked Nataly Cahana (Qiriat Bialik, Israel) at No. 1 singles and Verena Munzinger at No. 6 singles.

Old Dominion captured the doubles point behind wins by the teams of Nataly Cahana and Maretha Van Niekerk at No. 1 doubles and Julia Sotiriu (Wendelstein, Germany) and Coralie Herrmann (Porrentruy, Switzerland) at No. 2 singles. The duo of Cahana and Van Niekerk defeated Kavitha Krishnamurth and Neha Uverio, 8-6, while Sotiriu and Herrmann emerged with a 8-6 win as well, defeating Mateya McCoy and Bhargava. Freshmen Kerstin Endlich and Munziner were blanked at No. 3 doubles, 8-0, by the Tigers' Stephaine Berg and Alex Kobishyn.

In singles play, fifth ranked Cahana used a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 match to post a win at the number one position over Krishnamurth. Munzinger posted her win over Kristin Carlin, 7-6, 6-2, at No. 6 singles.

The Tigers collected wins at No. 2 through No. 5 singles for the win. Endlich fell 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles to Uveroi, Van Neikerk dropped a 6-4, 7-5 decision to Berg at No. 3 singles, while Sotiriu lost 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles to Jacki Arcario and Herrmann was defeated 0-6, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 singles by McCoy.

The Lady Monarchs take on another Ivy League opponent on Saturday when they travel to UPenn.
