Lady Monarchs Thrash Richmond, 7-0

NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University women's tennis shook off the rust of having not played in 13 days and delivered a powerful 7-0 win over Richmond Saturday afternoon at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center. The Lady Monarchs got off to a strong start in doubles as Juliana Pires and Melissa Esnal Olguin were 8-2 winners at No. 2 doubles while Ivana Vukovic and Nika Khmolovska were victorious at No. 3 doubles with an 8-2 score. Diana Ivanova and Nikol Hristova were up 7-4 at No. 1 at the time their match was stopped. ODU made was just as dominant in singles as Khmolovska made quick work of Mariana Arana at No. 6 in a 6-2, 6-1 victory while Ivana Vukovic cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3. Diana Ivanova followed with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at No. 1 while Hristova was a 6-4, 6-1 winner at No. 2. Juliana Pires hung on strong with a 6-4, 3-6 (10-8) win at No. 4 while Esnal Olguin gutted out a 6-4, 7-5 victory at No. 5 to clinch the sweep.
