Lady Monarch Tennis Wins Third Straight With 5-2 Win Over Stetson

DELAND, Fla. -- The Old Dominion women's tennis team improved to 10-4 on the season with a 5-2 victory over Stetson in its third straight win. The Lady Monarchs earned the doubles points as the teams of Charleen Haarhoff and Fernanda Luiz at No. 2 doubles and Barbara Costa and Barbara Kerner at No. 3 singles took home wins. At No. 2 doubles, Haarhoff and Luiz defeated Catherine Canady and Anna Leonenko by a score of 8-2. At No. 3 doubles, Costa and Kerner edged out Maja Miladinovic and Danielle Mollman, 8-5. In singles, Old Dominion used victories at the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 spots for the win. Haarhoff downed Marina Levin 6-2, 7-6 (6) in her No. 2 singles outing, while Costa played to a come from behind 4-6, 7-6, 6-3 victory at No. 3 singles against Stetson's Maja Miladinovic. At No. 4 singles, Luiz needed three sets to get past Leonenko, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, while Larissa Santos dropped her first set, 2-6, to rally in the next two sets, 6-3, 6-4 for her No. 5 singles win. The Lady Monarchs will return to action on Monday, March 13th when they host Central Florida at Huntington Park in Newport News.
