ODU Women's Tennis Earns 5-2 Win at Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. -- The ODU women's tennis team improved to 13-6 overall this season with a road victory against the Richmond Spiders today, winning 5-2. ODU's 19th ranked Nadine Fahoum earned her 32nd win of the year without giving up a game at No. 1 singles, dropping Richmond's Erin Clark: 6-0, 6-0. Fahoum paired with Diana Ivanova at No. 1 doubles for a tough victory, battling out a 9-8 (5) win over Clark and Helen Cunningham. ODU would take the important doubles point with a win from Joanna Dobrowolska and Irina Dementyeva at No. 2, outlasting the Richmond tandem of Kelly Tidwell and Isabel Arana, 8-6. In singles play, the Lady Monarchs got the win from Fahoum, followed by a 7-5, 6-4 vitory at No. 3 for Dementyeva over Cunningham, a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4 for Ivanova over Alexandra Smyth and a three-set win for Marija Citic at No. 6 over Mariana Arana, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5. Fahoum's win improves her to 32-4 overall this season, as she is currently ranked 19th in the nation. The team has just four matches left before the CAA Championships starting on April 15, including a pair of CAA matches in the next week and a half.
