RICHMOND, VA -- The 11th ranked Virginia Commonwealth women's tennis team won its 11th consecutive match as they handed #61 Old Dominion at 6-1 loss at Thalhimer Tennis Center.

VCU took the doubles point winning both first and second doubles. The 41st ranked team of Martina Nedelkova and Andra Ondrisova defeated Old Dominion's 44th ranked duo of sophomore Nataly Cahana (Qiriat Bialik, Israel) and senior Ana Radeljevic (Zagreb, Croatia) at first doubles. At second doubles, Lady Monarchs senior Mily Kannarkat (Va Beach, VA) and junior Julia Sotiriu (Wendelstein, Germany) fell 8-5 to Silvia Urickova and Barbora Zahnova. Senior Patrica Araujo (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and sophomore Lara van Rooyen (Pretoria, South Africa) edged out Cristina Gago and Jana Carollo for the lone Old Dominion win doubles competition with a 8-3 third doubles victory.

In singles, Mily Kannarkat picked up the lone Lady Monarch win with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at fourth singles over Barbora Zahnova. Fourty-fourth ranked Andra Ondrisova upset ninth ranked Nataly Cahana at first singles (6-4, 6-1), while 45th ranked Lara van Rooyen fell to 35th ranked Martina Nedelkova (6-4, 6-1) at second singles.

The Old Dominion women's lacrosse team will return to action on Saturday when they host George Mason in their final CAA contest of the 2002 dual meet season before heading off the CAA Championships in Richmond, VA next weekend.
