Women's Tennis Plays To 6-1 Victory Over Temple In Final Game At ODU's Current Tennis Courts

NORFOLK, VA. -- The Old Dominion women's tennis team defeated Temple, 6-1, on Wednesday, playing the final game at the current Old Dominion outdoor courts before the new new state-of-the-art eight court indoor facility with a renovated 12 outdoor court facility is constucted. The Lady Monarchs improved their mark to 17-8 overall and travel to UNC-Wilmington Friday for their final 2005-06 dual meet match before heading to the 2006 CAA Tournament. The afternoon started with Old Dominion picking up wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles with Temple defaulting at the No. 3 spot. The No. 2 doubles team of Kerstin Endlich and Larissa Santos kicked things off with an 8-1 victory over Ana Maslesa and Eva Marsalkova. Charleen Haarhoff and Fernanda Luiz also allowed their opponent only one game as they defeated the Owls' Felicia Frazier and Barbara Oria Boer, 8-1, at No. 1 doubles. Old Dominion picked up two wins in singles right away as the Owls defaulted at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Haarhoff's match at No. 2 singles finished first as she defeated Maslesa, 6-1, 6-2. Barbara Costa finished her No. 4 singles match next downing Oria, 6-3, 6-1. Luiz only allowed her Temple opponent one game as she edged out Frazier, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3 to round out the Lady Monarch wins.
