NORFOLK, VA -- Senior Julia Sotiriu (Wendelstein, Germany) and freshman Coralie Herrmann (Porrentruy, Switerzland) captured the Flight C doubles title in the final day of competition at the East Coast Championships hosted by Old Dominion.

The duo blanked semifinal opponent Caroline Downs and Jihan Nejdi of Radford, 8-0, to reach the championship game. Then in the finals, Sotiriu and Herrmann used an 8-1 victory over UMBC's Svetlana Khvalina and Aimee Lim to take home the title.

Sotiriu also finished play in the Flight B singles consolation bracket. Her run ended in the semifinals with an 8-5 loss to Jennifer Jassawalla of NC State.

TOURNAMENT SUMMARY:

Flight B Singles (consolation bracket): Jennifer Jasswalla (NC State) def. Julia Sotiriu (ODU): 8-5

Flight C Doubles (main draw): Julia Sotiriu/Coralie Herrmann (ODU) def. Caroline Downs/Jihan Nejdi (Radford): 8-0 Julia Sotiru/Coralie Herrmann (ODU) def. Svetlana Khavlina/Aimee Lim (UMBC): 8-1
