ATHENS, GA -- Four-time CAA Player of the Year and the ITA East Region Senior Player of the Year, senior Nataly Cahana (Qiriat Bialik, Israel) advanced to the second round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Tournament on Monday morning at the Dan McGill Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Georgia.

Cahana, ranked 30th in the most recent ITA Poll, defeated Jessica Ferguson from Louisiana State in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2 to reach the second round of NCAA play for the third time in her career. Ferguson was ranked 57th had helped the 19th-ranked Tigers to a berth in the team tournament.

The Lady Monarchs' top singles player will face #42 Margarita Karnaukhova of Sacramento State on Tuesday. Karnaukhova upset ninth ranked Agata Cioroch of the University of Georgia, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, to advance.
