Nicole Turner serves as the Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director and Chief Financial Officer of Athletics at Old Dominion University (ODU), where she oversees all financial and business operations for the athletic department. Since her appointment to this role in May 2025, Nicole has led efforts to ensure fiscal accountability, compliance, and operational efficiency across a broad portfolio, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, year-end reporting, and business transactions.
In her executive capacity, Turner leads a comprehensive team responsible for managing financial matters, human resources, contract administration, scholarships, procurement, travel coordination, and insurance, as well as overseeing the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Centerand ticket operations.
Nicole’s career at ODU began in 2007 as Athletics Procurement Manager, during a pivotal time when the university was expanding its athletic offerings with football and women’s rowing. Her leadership and strategic acumen led to a series of promotions, culminating in roles such as Athletics Business Manager, Assistant Athletic Director of Business, and Associate Athletic Director of Business and Finance. Across these roles, she has gained deep expertise in procurement, financial planning, human resource management, and compliance with university, conference, and NCAA regulations.
Before returning to ODU professionally, Nicole was the Assistant Director at Bright Horizons at USAA, where she managed the daily operations of an on-site childcare center. Her responsibilities included budgeting, marketing, sales, HR, and educational programming.
Turner's connection to Old Dominion runs deep—she is not only a dedicated leader within its athletic department but also an alumna. As an undergraduate, she worked as a student assistant in the Athletic Business Office, laying the foundation for her future in athletic administration. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion.
