ODU Monarch Dance Team
2009-2010 ODU Monarch Dynasty Dance Team 2010 Spring Dance Tryout Results The Monarch Dynasty Dance Team has been recognized as one of the most active and spirited organizations on campus. The dance team is comprised of student-athletes who are committed to one another and to promoting spirit within and outside of the university. The squad performs at all football home games. In addition, the dance team members perform at all men's and women's basketball home games. Throughout the year, the Dynasty dancers perform for additional sporting events, appear at public events and school functions and travel for CAA and/or NCAA tournaments. The purpose of the Monarch Dance Team is to show and promote school spirit for the various school sports and activities on campus as well as within the community. To promote a positive and safe environment where leadership and work ethics are enhanced in every dance member. To become a member of the Dynasty Dance team each member must have at least a 2.0 GPA. All upperclassmen (Cumulative GPA below 2.5) AND incoming freshmen must attend six hours of study hall per week each semester. Every member is also required to complete workouts three times a week with the Athletic Strength and Conditioning Staff. Dance practice will be held at least three days a week. All incoming freshmen intending to tryout must not register for night classes and must have Monday, Wednesday and Thursday free from 5:30 - 9:00PM (only exceptions will be graduating seniors on case by case basis). All dancers are required to actively participate in any and all fundraising efforts for the Spirit Squad Program. 2010 FALL OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY DYNASTY DANCE TEAM TRYOUTS
Any students trying out for a position on a ODU spirit squad must submit a physical form. The physical must be performed and the form signed by a physician within the last six months. If needed, a blank physical form is below.
For the past several years, the Monarch Dance Team has had the privilege of traveling to New York City to take dance classes from famous choreographers. On April 1-3, 2005, these talented dancers placed 1st at Tremaine's Semi-finals in Memphis, Tennessee and placed 3rd July 7-11, 2005, at Tremaine's National Competition in Orlando, Florida. Although the Monarch Dance Team did not compete in 2006, they were still able to attend the Convention in Orlando, Florida. In addition, the ladies of the Monarch Dance Team earned the title 2005 CAA Tournament Dance Team Champions.
